Well here I am, day two of missing school, unfortunately. I woke up this morning not feeling any better in the slightest, so I walked to the Urgent Care center on 23rd, filled out a shitload of paperwork, and waited for over an hour to be told "oh, we can't treat you because you're a minor and don't have a parent present". Fuck. My. Life.

So, school is awesome. I have two different classes with four different teachers. For studio class, I have Emily and Anya. Emily is a super hippie, only allows us to use recyclable and reusable materials for projects, and is the cutest, sweetest woman I've met. Anya is a bit of a perfectionist and tends to fail at seeing things abstractly, but she gives helpful critiques. Studio class is certainly my favorite, and allows a lot of freedom, creativity, abstract thinking, and is very productive. I'm sure I'll have tons of portfolio work by the time I'm done here. But on the opposite side of the spectrum, we have drawing and presentation class. My teachers are Nick and Becca, and although Nick is a good-looking Filipino man, he's kind of stern in a way? He's just a very talented artist and wants us all to be the same. Then there's Becca. Ugh. Becca. Can I get a "fuckkk youuuu" for Becca please, ladies and gents? Everyone can tell that she really does dread coming to class and teaching, and it's pretty apparent that she doesn't like me. And why would I make an effort to impress a teacher that doesn't like me? Well, exactly, I wouldn't. :) Tehe.
My roommates are awesome, with the exception of Twilight crazed Monica. Let me just say, this girl is messy, obnoxious, prissy, high maintenance, and slightly insane? Like I'm serious. She waited for 7 hours outside of Robert Pattinson's trailer on Broadway just to take a picture of him. And now that horrible picture where he is barely visible is her Facebook default photo. Ooooh Monica. We've definitely been having troubles with her. However, Gwen, Meg, and Adri are ahmaazzinngg and so helpful. The four of us get along so well, and I kind of feel bad for Monica, but oh well, what can we do about it? Either you like someone or you don't. We're still nice to her though, in case you were wondering. No deliberate meanness being thrown around up in here. I wish that Vero could move in, we need a bit of her Colombian flavor.
Unfortunately, I'm sick. Like deathly, basically. Yesterday, at Utrecht (the art store that I drop about $200 dollars at a week, ridic), I couldn't get up off of the floor. I felt unbearably dizzy and faint, and when I would try to stand up I felt to weak to let my feet and legs support my body. It was very very very scary. So I came home and took a four hour nap, hoping that would do something for me. Much to my disappointment, it didn't. So I spent all of last night in horrible pain, dizzy, coughing, sneezing, sniffling, and unable to swallow because of how swollen my throat is. I couldn't manage to get out of bed this morning so I'm not at school (thus the time I'm posting this, 12:29). I'm really scared to have missed a day but at least I emailed Emily and told her the situation. She's an angel.
That's all for now :)
Let's cross our fingers for a post
and maybe a recovery tomorrow?

So yesterday was move in day. Feelings of both excitement and nervousness were running through my body, because I really couldn't decide whether or not I was ready to be on my own for a whole month and a half, contrary to what I had believed so strongly since November. However, I was so pleasantly surprised with how lovely and cute my roommates are, how big my apartment is, and how friendly and welcoming everyone here is. Not a single person doesn't have an interesting quality to them, a good taste in fashion, and a love for this city and design itself. It's so nice to bond with people that are passionate about the same things as you. I digress. So, moving in was kind of a hassle because of course I pulled a Shannon Weller, and brought 3 HUGE suitcases, a toiletry bag that's big enough to have to be checked instead of carried on, and two tote bags. Needless to say, unpacking took a while. Once I was all settled, Daddy and Sissy came and picked me up and we went to this bombbb crab restaurant and had a lovely dinner. Then, when they came to make sure everything was settled and to say goodbye, my daddy got all choked up and cried :( he was sad to be letting go of his baby for a month and a half. It really was precious. After they left, I just spent time with the roomies, and then went out and GOT MY NOSE PIERCED! The shop was really cool, and the guy that did it was really professional and way rad. I don't know what my parents are going to think yet, but oh well. I'll find out in a month and a half I suppose :) after walking around the city a bunch more, I came back to my apartment, popped in the 40 year old virgin, and fell asleep.
Then, I woke up this morning, took a shower, and got ready. A bunch of us walked over to the main campus for orientation, got oriented (go figure), and then went to lunch. After lunch, we had our first day of class, and let me just say that our instructors are A M A Z I N G and I'm so excited about what's coming my way. After school I had to go get some art supplies, then came back to the apartment to sit and chat a bit with Gwen. Then, Meg and I took a cab over to union sqaure to have dinner and shop. It was really relaxing after a day of school and such. My nose is healing well, and I clean it three times a day, so not to worry :) I love it here, and I'm having such a good time. I miss my friends and family so much though. And my dogs. I miss them too.

Well, today was quite lovely. I woke up early in the morning to take my shower and get ready to go to Pratt. The school is BEAUTIFUL, and in the perfect spot in Brooklyn, and it was just lovely. I'm going to apply there, doubting I'll get in, but oh well it's worth the shot, right? :) So after that we had a delicious lunch at Phebe's Tavern, got the things I needed to collect for my dorm, shopped and walked around, then came back and took a nappy. Once we woke up, we went to a d e l i c i o u s dinner, and walked around some more. Got Red Mango for the second night in a row...amazing. And now we're sitting in our beds watching Revolutionary Road, getting ready to lay our heads down for another night of perfect sleep in our comfy beds. Goodnight everybody!

Right now, we're listening to Hanson in the hotel room.
Just a little update of the madness :)

6.26.09
So, after getting hardly any sleep last night, Meg and I woke up around 6:10. We ran to It's A Grind for the last time as a farewell to my second home, and then came home to pack my carry on. The car arrived around 7:30 to pick us up, and we were off to the airport to realize our plane was delayed an hour. After getting on the plane and such, everything went smoothly, but then due to a delay in air traffic we were delayed yet another hour. So, two hours of bullshit...better than three, right? Once we go here, we got dressed and went to dinner at this dooope Asian place, and then walked around the city for a couple blocks. The weather is suuper humid but nice at night, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed it'll stay like this. Can't wait for Julian to arrive on Sunday :)
